A Las Cruces woman was arrested after she allegedly head-butted an officer while he was responding to a medical call Saturday evening.

Rebecca Hoggan, 33, was charged with one count each of battery upon a peace officer and assault upon a peace officer. Emergency crews responded to the Pic Quick store at 825 Avenida De Mesilla for a medical call for Hoggan when she became visibly agitated and requested that she be handcuffed.

Hoggan then allegedly began yelling and cursing at the officer and allegedly head-butted the officer in the right cheek. That's then LCPD says that she spit on the two responding officers who were trying to stabilize her on the ground.

Neither officer was seriously injured in the incident.

Hoggan was previously a subject of a 'Missing Person' search in both November of 2013 and July of 2014. At the time of previous disappearances, law enforcement indicated that she 'suffers from mental and physical disorders that could make her a danger to herself.'

Hoggan was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a bond set at $5,000.
