Las Cruces Police arrested Genevieve M. Reyes, 34, of the 1300 block of Gladys Drive, and charged her with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

At around 10 p.m. Saturday, July 19, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing at the couple’s home.

As one of the officers approached the home, police said he found a 38-year-old man walking along Lees Drive with his 6-year-old son. They said the man had stab wounds to his hands and abdomen, and was transported to a local hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Detectives learned that Reyes and the victim were allegedly arguing when the 38-year-old man locked himself into a room at their home. Reyes is alleged to have pried open the door with a knife and then stabbed her boyfriend when he exited the room.

The man walked away from the home and called police.
Reyes was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000. She has since posted bail.
