Las Cruces - Drivers in Las Cruces are learning about the city's new cell phone ban the hard way.
Police have issued 77 citations since the ban went into effect a month ago..
Violators pay a $25 fine for a first offense, $50 for a second, and jail time for violating the ban any more than that.
Las Cruces only allows hands-free devices while driving.
