Keeping cool is tough during the hot days of summer. Just like you and your electric bill, the summer heat can take a toll on your tires.
Hot weather experts recommend checking tire pressure. Hot weather increases heat build-up and weakens tires. Underinflated tires generate more heat, due to excessive sidewall flexing. That affects handling of the car and the car's gas efficiency.
Consumer Reports says keeping tires properly inflated is key and based on their experience, most tires are not inflated correctly.
