EL PASO — ComCorp of El Paso, Inc. is welcoming one new member and one familiar face.
“The search has been on for some time to find the right fit for the vacancies left by Stephania Jimenez and Phillip Mena. That search has come to an end. This week, we welcome Keagan Harsha and Nichole Ayoub to our Team,” said General Manager Gary Sotir.
Harsha comes to KTSM from WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont, where he spent the past five years. There, he started as weekend anchor/reporter, but for the last two years was the anchor of the market leading morning newscast. Prior to his time at WCAX, he worked three years as weekend anchor and reporter at KULR-TV in Billings, Montana. Keagan is excited to make El Paso his new home.
"KTSM has a long and rich tradition of producing quality news, and I am excited to be joining the NewsChannel 9 family. I’m also thrilled to say farewell to cold, snowy weather and hello to a community where the sun always shines," he said.
Many television viewers will remember Nichole Ayoub. In 2010, she left the world of broadcasting after the birth of her twins Heaton and Hampton. In 2011 Nichole and her husband Travis welcomed a third son, Heston. Though she’s enjoyed her mommy time, she’s now ready to dive back in!
“I am so honored to be back doing what I love, in the city I adore, for the people I respect so deeply,” said Ayoub.
These new additions to ComCorp will mean some changes for KTSM and KDBC as the stations move to take the newscasts in new directions. Effective July 30th, Adrienne Alvarez will be joining Keagan Harsha on the KTSM anchor desk at 5:00, 6:00, 6:30 and 10:00; Dan O’Rourke will be anchoring with Jacqueline Crea on KTSM weekends; Amber Downing will anchor KDBC at 5:30 and Nichole Ayoub will return to the anchor desk on KDBC at 10:00.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to return to the station that brought me here to El Paso. While I will always cherish my time at Local 4 News, I am excited to be a part of NewsChannel 9's new vision," said Adrienne Alvarez.
"I've been given fantastic opportunities at both KTSM and KDBC. I'm looking forward to this chance to serve my community and play a vital role at KDBC by anchoring the 5:30 newscast,” said Amber Downing.
These additions are the latest made by the company as it reinforces its commitment to its news product and local community. At the end of 2011, ComCorp hired Mark Mathis and announced the return of Noreen Jaramillo to television news for NewsChannel 9 Today weekday mornings and hired Lauren Macias-Cervantes as News Director.
“We value our viewers and know they have a choice when it come to TV news, we’re grateful to them and look forward to becoming that choice for more TV viewers,” added Sotir.
