EL PASO -- Convicted murderer Daniel Villegas is one step closer to getting a new trial.
Judge Sam Medrano ruled in favor on a Writ Of Habeas Corpus.
The courtroom cheered after the Judge read his ruling and Villegas started crying.
Villegas claims he was forced to confessing to a drive by shooting in Northeast El Paso in 1993 when he was 17 years old.
Jurors found him guilty of a drive by shooting that killed Armando Lazo and Robert England. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Villegas is now 35 years old.
