Juarez Family Remebers Kidnapped Woman

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 - 20:10

Tuesday marked a somber anniversary for a family from Juarez. On August 14, 2011, eight masked gunmen in military uniform kidnapped Isela Hernandez Lara from her home. One year later no one has been charged with her disappearance. Her family is now seeking asylum in the U.S., and today they and members of the group Mexicans in Exile gathered outside the Mexican consulate to send a message that violence will not be tolerated.

"We haven't known anything from her. We don't know if she's alive. We don't know anything. The authorities haven't given us any answers. We're requiring answers because we have nothing. We don't know anything about her," said her nephew, Daniel Fernandez. Fernandez watched last year as his aunt was taken from her home.

The 153 member group is all seeking asylum in the United States.
