Convicted murderer Jodi Arias is speaking out, as a jury considers whether she should get the death penalty for killing ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

On Tuesday, Arias asked the jury to spare her life. She says she could make a difference in prison doing acts of service.

She wants to teach fellow inmates how to read, help victims of domestic violence and she wants to donate her hair to make wigs for sick children.

Arias gave a jailhouse interview to TV station KNXV. She was asked whether she would have turned herself in if police hadn't arrested her first.

"Well, I couldn't answer that 'I don't know if I would turn myself in.' I'd like to think that I would because that would be the right thing to do. On the other hand, can you imagine willingly giving up your freedom? That's a difficult decision to make." said Jodi Arias.

On the day she was convicted Arias said she wanted the death penalty but she says she changed her mind after speaking with her family.
