Inmates from the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility stopped to help a victim who had a heart attack while driving on I-10 near Vado, New Mexico.

The inmate work crew was traveling in a van on Robert Larson Blvd. in Las Cruces when a truck traveling on I-10 East suddenly veered off the road, and almost hit the van, then drove through a barbed wire fence.

The corrections officer, along with the inmates, got out of the van to help the driver of the pickup truck, who reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving.

One of the inmates, along with another person who stopped to help, performed CPR on the victim who had stopped breathing.|

Once paramedics arrived, the inmates also helped to carry the victim to the ambulance.  The victim was rushed to the hospital.  His condition is unknown.
