As a graduate, there may be no better sight than seeing a long skinny envelope arrive in the mail. They know it may be a congratulatory check from a friend or family member and this survey found that for gift givers, cash still is king.
Half of us will give monetary gifts to the grads in our lives this year, according to a new survey from "retailmenot" and it breaks down just how much money the grads are getting. Depending on what level of schooling your grad just graduated from, for high school grads, the average monetary gift is $165 dollars. For college, that jumps to $464 dollars and for graduate school, grads get approximately $772 dollars.
That is a lot of cash. Interestingly enough, the survey also found that graduates wished they would have received more advice about life in addition to monetary gifts, including advice on how to save money and finding a job.
