Investigators Issue National Warrant For Child Abuse Suspects

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. — Sunland Park Police was asking for assistance in locating Shaleen Farrell, 26, and Richard Contreras, 29 for alleged child abuse. Detectives discovered the couple living in an abandoned tact room next to horse stalls in late March with their two-year-old daughter. The room had no running water and or fresh air.

A search of the room yielded drug paraphernalia and unsafe living conditions for the child. The child was removed from their custody and tested for drugs. Her results were positive for a high amount of methamphetamine in her system.

Arrest warrants were issued on for Farrell and Contrereas for abuse of a child on a nation wide warrant . They have since left the area and are believed to be either in El Paso or Albuquerque, NM.
