LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico Department of Health held it's first free flu shot clinic of the season Friday in Las Cruces.
More than 400 adults received the vaccine and even ran out of adult dosages after a steady line throughout the day.
"We knew there are not as many resources in the community, so we brought double the vaccine and extended our hours," said Registered Nurse Debby Hanus with the Department of Health.
Hanus said Dona Ana County has not seen it's first case of the flu but the virus is already present up north.
Another clinic will be held in Las Cruces in two weeks at Saint Genevieve Parish Hall and it's important to note these are for uninsured residents.
Most pharmacies in town have the vaccine readily available.
