WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the U-S House rejected one plan and approved another on tax cuts.
Lawmakers passed the Republican plan to maintain the Bush era tax cuts for all Americans.
House Republicans and more than a dozen Democrats passed the G-O-P measure by a 256-to-171 margin.
It ditched the Democrat-backed and Senate-approved version that kept tax cuts only for people making under 200-thousand-dollars a year.
The congressional stalemate over the tax cuts has come to symbolize legislative inaction in Washington.
Normally, a congressional conference committee would negotiate a compromise, but the November election has likely put a hold on that.
Both sides say they agree on extending the lower tax rates for middle-income Americans.
