El Paso, TX (KDBC) — El Paso Firefighters responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning.
It started just before 7 a.m. on the 7800 block of Hermosillo in the Lower Valley. The resident of the home was in the kitchen at the time of the fire, attempting to light a pilot light. At the same time, he noticed fire coming from a trash can in the kitchen.
The resident attempted to extinguish the fire, but was pulled out by neighbors.
EPFD crews arrived and discovered that the fire had already spread from the kitchen into the living room and a bedroom. The fire damaged 50% of the home, with an estimated $60,000 in damage.
The resident of the home was treated and released at the scene for smoke inhalation.
A total of 11 units and 27 personnel from the El Paso Fire Department responded to this incident. El Paso Police Department, City of El Paso Building and Permits, Red Cross, Texas Gas and El Paso Electric Company assisted at this incident.
