The El Paso Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the homeless woman who was discovered buried under hail after Saturday's severe storms has died. The Medical Examiners Office is working to confirm her identity and notify her family before any additional information is released.

El Paso Fire Department officials say a homeless woman was left in critical condition after being swept away into a Northeast El Paso drain during Saturday's hail storm.

Investigators said the woman, only identified as being in her 50's, was sleeping by the drain's entrance near Gateway North and Transmountain Road around 5 p.m. when it flooded.

Two men who were with her were also carried away. Fire crews said they were able to escape.

The woman was rescued approximately 90 minutes later. She was found underneath approximately three feet of ice, according to fire officials.

She was taken to University Medical Center.

Saturday's fast moving storm dumped about 1.5 inches of rain around El Paso, according to the National Weather Service.
