El Paso, Texas (KDBC) — This past weeks rains left quite a mess at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
28 graves or headstones were damaged over the weekend. Most sunk into the soft ground.
Crews spent the day repairing the damage and hope to have all the graves and headstones repaired by some time tomorrow.
It's a problem the cemetery often sees during heavy rains, at least since grass was replaced by sand a couple of years ago.
During storms last September, more than a thousand graves and headstones were damaged.
