EL PASO — Outside a Fort Bliss gate Saturday, a group of demonstrators held up signs to drivers entering the post.
The group says it's upset because the company that has a new contract to operate bus services on the post, Tatitlek Corporation, is acting unfairly by laying off several experienced drivers, and replacing them by playing favorites, even by engaging in nepotism--giving bus driver jobs to friends or family members.
One protestor in line told us the group contacted Tatitlek and that the company said it was doing nothing improper in hiring the hundred or so bus drivers assigned to Fort Bliss routes.
Late Saturday afternoon, a Tatitlek spokesperson responded by email to our request for information, saying that the Alaska based company cannot comment until and unless the Army allows it.
