AUSTIN - Texas Governor Rick Perry and lawmakers will soon be tackling controversial abortion legislation.
Less than a week after he was sworn in, Governor Perry is pushing for a law that requires women to see their sonograms before deciding to get an abortion. In a statement, Perry said women who have all the information and can see what is at stake will make what he calls the right choice- the choice of life. He also spoke at the 2011 Texas Rally for Life event on Saturday.
Because it is considered emergency legislation, lawmakers will consider the measure within 30 days.
This comes on the anniversary of Roe V. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.
