The Extreme Weather Task Force kicks off its annual Winter Safety & Blanket Drive.

As temperatures drop, the danger increases for the elderly and needy families in our community.

Last winter, a 56-year-old homeless man died because of exposure to the cold weather. The organization wants to try to prevent that from happening again this year.

They are excepting new blanket donations. They can be dropped off any time at any local fire station or any sheriff sub station. Corporate and monetary donations are welcome payable to the APS Silver Star Board.  The mailing address is: Attention - Grace Ortiz, Adult Protective Services, 401 E. Franklin, Suite 350, El Paso, TX, 79901.
