San Elizario, Texas (KDBC) — Budget cuts have forced many area teachers to reach into their own pockets to provide supplies for their classrooms, but Thursday 20 San Elizario teachers got some much needed help.
The local Sam's Club gave the randomly chosen teachers each a $50 gift card to help with the costs of classroom supplies.
"It really moved me because it made me feel that I am acknowledged and noticed for the things that I do for my students," said Cesar Duran, a fourth grade teacher at Alarcon Elementary.
On average, Duran believes he spends anywhere from $300 to $400 out of his pocket to not only buy supplies, but incentives for students as well as uniforms for those in need.
