Former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent sentenced to 180 days in jail, 10 years probation

A jury has found former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent guilty of intoxication manslaughter and sentenced him to 180 days in jail with 10 years probation.

The former nose tackle was charged with intoxication manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk and causing a December 2012 wreck that killed his passenger, friend and teammate, Jerry Brown.

Brent announced his retirement from pro-football, Thursday, July 18, 2013.

Brent played three seasons for the Cowboys, recording 65 tackles, 1.5 sacks, five pressures, one pass breakup and one forced fumble in 39 career games with five starts. He was originally selected in the seventh-round of the 2010 Supplemental Draft out of Illinois.

The punishment came down just before 11:40 a.m., Friday afternoon.
