El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Education Agency gave the El Paso Independent School District the go-ahead to fire another Austin High School administrator this month connected to a retaliation conspiracy involving the school's former principal.
EPISD Board of Managers sought to terminate their contract with the school's Assistant Principal Diane Thomas.
On April 7, a TEA hearing examiner approved that move, citing a Weaver audit that discovered Thomas and then-principal John Tanner sought to get rid of speech teacher Jeanette Halliday and auto shop teacher Ruben Cordero off their campus through enrollment manipulation.
It is alleged they sought their removal because of the teachers' participation in the FBI investigation of the cheating scheme.
Both teachers still work at Austin High.
