Ford is recalling two of its vehicles to fix defects that can cause fires or loss of power.
The company says the 2004 and 2005 models of the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey could suddenly lose power if the torque converter output shaft fails. The malfunction increases the risk of a crash.
Ford said it will notify owners and dealers and replace the part for free.
Also, 2001-2002 Ford Escapes that are equipped with a brake master cylinder reservoir cap can leak brake fluid and possibly cause a fire.
Ford said it will notify owners and dealers and replace that part as well.
