100 days into his first term in office, and U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke has managed to get two bills signed into law, resolve 198 constituent cases, and answer 3,925 e-mails, phone calls, and letters.

The congressman reflected on those first 100 days in office when he spoke to Local 4 News Monday afternoon.

First, he helped to author the Cross Border Trade Enhancement Act, which will help bring more customs agents to our ports to reduce border wait times.

Additionally, he helped restore military tuition assistance that had been under threat of sequestration.

He looks back fondly on that feat, he said.

"That's a success that I'm proud of, in terms of what our team was able to do, and it's a success that was good for the community," he said.

"It's one that I didn't anticipate being able to accomplish working with this team as a freshman member of Congress."

O'Rourke is assigned to the Homeland Security and Veterans Committees, and his next step will be to protect Border Patrol agents from pay and hour cuts due to sequestration.
