Firefighters investigating cause of Las Cruces apartment fire

Firefighters responded to an apartment fire in the 1200 block of Nevada Ave. early Saturday morning.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 4:30 a.m. and saw smoke coming from the building, which has a total of four apartments.

No one was inside the burning apartment, and residents in the other three apartments got out safely.

According to investigators, the fire started on a couch in the living room, but they do not know what started the blaze. The cause remains under investigation.  

Damages are estimated at $11,500. 

No injuries were reported.
