Firefighters Investigate Cause of Apartment Fire That Smoldered For Hours

LAS CRUCES — The cause of an apartment fire remains under investigation.

Las Cruces firefighters responded to the fire in the 1400 block of Rentfrow Thursday morning.

Neighbors dialed 9-1-1 after they noticed smoke pouring out of the front door and window of the apartment.

Nathan Beyer, Spokesperson for the Las Cruces Fire Department, said the fire originated in the living room, and had been smoldering for several hours before emergency crews arrived.

There is heavy and fire smoke damage throughout the apartment.

No injuries were reported.
