El Paso, Texas (KDBC) — Family and friends gathered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Paso today to say farewell to a murdered teenager.
Saeed Nami was shot and killed Monday next to Palo Verde Park in west El Paso. Police have arrested 21 year- old George Diamos and 21 year -old Geoff Bond. Both are now charged them with capital murder.
Nami's father is trying to make sense of what happened. He says his son got mixed up with the wrong people, and he hopes his son's death will serve as a wakeup call to all parents.
"There was a crack house, how a mother doesn't know there are kids smoking week, how they don't know there's drug dealers upstairs, this is our responsibility. Wake up to these things. I lost an 18 year-old kid. He could have had a big future here. He was a smart kid. He was a good kid. This is what's going on in our society," said Saeed's father, Mike Nami.
Saeed Nami was facing drug charges when he was killed. As for the men who allegedly murdered his son, Nami says, "I hope they burn in hell. They're not a human. How can you shoot nine bullets at someone's heart? Then another 22 bullets at someone else, over what? A backpack? A computer? A phone? What are you thinking about," said Nami.
Police have not said what was inside the backpack. The mug shots of the two suspects have also not yet been released.
