EL PASO - When Sarah Hernandez answered the door on Sunday, she didn't know her family's life would change forever.
Three Airmen told her that her older brother Airman Robert Hernandez had died in an apartment fire in Germany, where he was stationed.
What they remember most about about him was his smile.
"His smile is what everybody remembers most about him," said Eric Hernandez, Robbie's brother. "He would walk into a room and catch everybody's attention with his smile."
Airman Hernendez was in Germany for about a year. When he told his family he wanted to join the Air Force, they were shocked.
"His Commander in Chief told us he was a hell of worker, whatever he did, he did it right," Eric said.
That doesn't comfort them much. They didn't get to say they loved him one last time, but the Hernandez family believes their ever-smiling brother is happy now.
"He's peaceful now. He's up there deejaying in heaven," Eric said.
