Family of Five Laid to Rest

NORTHEAST EL PASO — Hundreds of people gathered Wednesday to say farewell to five members of one family who were killed in a tragic car crash. The Barnes family was returning from a trip to Houston when their min-van blew a tire and crashed. Today 22 month-old Bethanie Barnes, 48 year-old Candace Barnes, 25 year-old Brittney Barnes, 4 year-old Caiden Barnes, and 5 year-old Aaron Arenas were laid to rest following a service at the Mccombs Baptist Church in Northeast El Paso.

"It's a great tragedy," said Gene Barnes, a family friend. "They were at my house a week ago. They left Houston to come back to El Paso. I pray for them. That's all I have to say. It's kind of hard."

The crash happened July 30th on Interstate 10 near Fabens.
