FABENS, TX — Friday morning at approximately 12:30 AM, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a structure fire at 119 NE Camp in Fabens. Deputies arrived to find an apartment fully engulfed. The apartment was vacant and the fire was contained within minutes by volunteer Fabens Firefighters. No surrounding homes were evacuated.
A Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene. Further investigation by deputies revealed the homeowner was notified by her neighbors her house was on fire. According to the homeowner she arrived to the apartment to find her son running in and out of the apartment breaking windows and yelling for her. The investigation also revealed an argument ensued between the homeowner and son sometime before the fire. No arrests have been made and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The 17 year old son was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries sustained from the fire. The apartment is considered a total loss.
