Las Cruces, NM (KDBC) — A big change in Doña Ana County could bring dozens of new jobs to the region.
County commissioners have expanded the foreign trade zone in the county, which is an area of land that's treated for U.S. Customs purposes, like foreign turf.
Some firms or companies in foreign trade zones can receive financial advantages, and commissioners hope the it will draw new companies to the region, specifically warehousing and distribution jobs.
There were three free trade zones in Doña Ana County. Now the entire county falls within the zone.
