EPPD searches for killer in 2003 murder

Sunday, January 6, 2013 - 8:42pm

A man was murdered at his northeast El Paso business on Christmas Eve nine years ago and police are asking for your help to solve this crime.

Police said a person, or a group of people, went into Fernando Martinez's repair shop on Titanic near Dyer at about noon on Christmas Eve back in 2003.
Investigators said they shot Martinez in the torso and he died.
"Obviously there were several businesses that were open still in that area on Christmas Eve… we know there's a lot of businesses, a lot of people that were coming through here so we know that somebody saw something, somebody knows something," said Javier Sambrano with the El Paso Police Department.
Martinez was originally from Artesia, New Mexico, and left behind a 4-year-old child.
If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 566-TIPS.
