EL PASO — It was business more or less back to usual today at EPISD high schools. Seven of the eight principals or assistant principals who were dismissed recently and allegedly tied to the Lorenzo Garcia cheating scandal were back oin their offices. All won reinstatement last night at an emotional school board meeting.
Kristine Ferret, once the principal at El Paso High School, the the former principal, and now the reinstated principal, had flowers in her office today after a welcome back by students and staff. Ferret says she's continuing her focus on education and serving he community. She declined to speak about particulars of her dismissal.
At the Center for Career & Technology Education, students had no principal today after Luis Loya was denied reinstatement by the board. Matt Farley will serve as interim principal while keeping his role as assistant principal. Loya' is on paid administrative leave but EPISD does not plan to renew his contract in July.
