EL PASO, Texas — Since the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, many people have decided to take up arms.
Business at gun shops has soared and schools offering Concealed Handgun License Classes or gun proficiency training classes have been booming.
That's why the El Paso Community College Law Enforcement Training, after countless calls from the public, decided to offer a new kind of class.
"If you are unarmed, what can you do against an armed assailant?," asked Barry Bogle from the academy.
That's the question he hopes to answer with these new classes that are designed for people in a teaching situation.
"Where they have themselves and maybe some children to protect and although it's a very difficult situation to try to resolve because the armed person has a tremendous advantage there are certain things that can do if they just know what to do," Bogle said.
The academy offers several kinds of classes each month. To contact them, you can call (915) 831-7117
