First, the house oversight committee focused on lost e-mails at the IRS. Then it learned the EPA is also having trouble recovering e-mails the committee wants as part of a separate investigation.

The EPA administrator said the agency cannot access some e-mails belonging to a biologist who worked on a controversial mining project assessment. He said there's a challenge in getting access to data on a hard drive, but they're still hoping to recover all the e-mails.

The committee is investigating whether the biologist or anyone else at the agency colluded with environmentalists to produce a negative assessment of a mining proposal in Alaska.
