BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.— One of the most iconic dresses ever worn in movie history was auctioned Saturday for a cool $5.6 million.
The famous ivory pleated gown worn by the legendary Marilyn Monroe in the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch” was sold at the auction. It was a part of an auction of Hollywood memorabilia sold by actress Debbie Reynolds.
The dress was made famous by Monroe in the movie when she stood over a subway grate in the film, causing the dress to billow around her.
