Employees of the Canutillo Independent School District will soon see a raise

Canutillo Independent School District employees will soon see more money in their paycheck.

CISD trustees approved a salary increase of 1% for teachers and other professional and clerical employees. Other employees like custodians, bus drivers and food service workers will receive a 1.5% increase.

Under the approved compensation plan, starting teachers with no previous
experience would earn $46,250, up from the current $45,900. This is the fourth year in a row that Canutillo approves a salary increase for its employees.

“Our goal of becoming a district of choice involves attracting and retaining quality
educators and employees to serve our community’s children,” said Board President
Rachel Quintana.

The 2014-2015 academic year compensation plan would will also increase stipends,
salaries and sign-on bonuses for employees in areas deemed in high demand.

Bus drivers will receive a starting pay rate of $15 an hour. Teachers who are fully certified to teach dual-credit courses will receive a stipend of $2,000, up from the current $1,000.
