AURORA, CO — The doctors in Aurora, Colorado are speaking out about treating the wounded in last night's shooting rampage.
A gunman ran into a movie theater's midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" and opened fire.
At least 12-people have been killed and 58-others wounded.
One doctor described the scene as the wounded poured into his emergency room.
"At about 12:30 we became aware of multiple shooting, the in-house trauma surgeon received the first several patients, and then as it became obvious this was a mass casualty event, we rapidly activated that system. Within about 30 minutes we had 5 trauma surgeons, 2 orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, intensive care doctors, extra nursing staff, operating room staff all available. As you can imagine it was a little bit chaotic initially but quickly turned into quiet professionalism and I'm very proud of all the staff that came together to take care of a lot of patients in a short period of time," said Dr. James Denton from Aurora Medical Center.
