New Mexico State Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash on I-25 near Truth or Consequences early Wednesday morning.

NMSP responded to a fatal crash on milepost 73 on I-25, just south of the Williamsburg exit around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2010 Honda, driven by 26-year-old El Paso resident Enrique Gomez Portillo rear ended a 1967 Honda motorcycle that was being ridden by 69-year-old Isidro Blea or T or C, NM.

The impact of the crash caused Blea to be ejected from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene by the NM Office of the Medical Investigator.

New Mexico State Police believe that Portillo was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. He was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle (under the influence of alcohol), driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving.

NM State Police say the investigation is ongoing and remind the public not to drink and drive.
