El Paso TX (KDBC) — News spread quickly of a traumatic shooting at LAX and it didn't take long for travelers at the El Paso International Airport to feel the effects.
"Went to check-in. My flight was canceled," said Jessica Flores, from East El Paso.
Lourdes Davis was scheduled to be traveling on Southwest Airlines to LAX, but that changed when flights from El Paso to Los Angeles International Airport were grounded.
"I was trying to take my kids to Halloween horror nights, so hopefully we'll get there tonight. I can't imagine being in that situation.God willing I never will be or anybody else will be. I wouldn't even know what to do," said Davis, from West El Paso.
Even if their flight was not canceled or changed, travelers still had concerns.
"I mean its scary. I don't like hearing that there's been a shooting," said Dolores Vota.
Some felt, an event like Friday's shooting is not something that can be prepared for.
"It's a random act, you now. Life. You can get hit by a car whatever. Someone just went crazy," said a traveler.
Maybe random but possible anywhere, seemed to be the common thought for many travelers, while headed to different destinations.
"That thing can happen anywhere. So you know honestly it really doesn't matter," said Davis.
Despite the effects the shooting in Los Angeles may have had on travelers Friday, many still felt safe.
"It's sad that something happened but you never know it could happen anywhere. But still I'm pretty secure and pretty safe," said one traveler.
