EL PASO - An El Paso police officer has received one of the highest awards in the state.
Andres Guerra was shot twice in the shoulder last year while answering a call in the Lower Valley. He needed surgery to remove one of the bullets.
Today, Gov. Rick Perry honored Guerra and others who were injured or died in the line of duty. The Star of Texas Award was expanded this year to include firefighters and emergency medical responders.
