El Paso man killed in oil field explosion identified

We now know the name of an El Paso man killed Wednesday in an explosion at an oil field near the New Mexico border.

His name is Roberto Magdalena. The 41 year-old and several other workers were changing a well head that had built up too much pressure and exploded.

46 year-old Amos Ortego of Artesia, New Mexico was also killed.

Nine other workers were injured, but refused to be taken to the hospital.

The accident happened near the small town of Orla, which is about 40 miles north of Pecos and 60 miles southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
