EL PASO, TX — Police arrested Lorenzo Barron, 41, for allegedly threatening to shoot an off-duty El Paso Police officer, in addition to several other charges.
According to the El Paso Police Department, Barron approached the off-duty officer outside of the K-Mart store on Montwood and asked him for $100 for his child who he said had cancer.
When the officer did not give him any cash, police said Barron threatened to shoot him, then ran away.
About 30 minutes later, employees from the same K-Mart store called police after they say Barron walked out of the store without paying for a scooter and a pair of boots.
Barron managed to get away again, but a witness took down his license plate number, which led police to Barron's home in East El Paso.
Uniformed officers were waiting outside of Barron's home when he drove up. Police said he appeared to be drunk.. Officers took him into custody and charged him with DWI , making a terroristic threat and theft.
