El Paso County Sheriff's Explorers receive awards at national competition

A group of young El Pasoans have something to be extremely proud of this week! The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post #2005 just returned from a trip to Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where the group of six Deputy Advisors and 12 Youth Explorers competed against over 300 posts throughout the nation.

The national competition is open to all law enforcement Explorer Posts throughout the U.S. and consists of events like .40 caliber shooting competition, air pistol shooting competition, non emergency police vehicle operations, bomb threat response, traffic accident investigations and police physical fitness competition.

The El Paso Sheriff's Explorer Post #2005 represented El Paso County and Texas well, they were awarded a 2nd place Trophy for Bomb Threat Response and a 4th place award for Traffic Accident Investigations. Post #2005 also scored in the top 10% in Bomb Threat Response, Traffic Accident Investigations, Hostage Negotiations and Crime Prevention.

The El Paso Sheriff's Office and all of El Paso would like to congratulate these young men and women for a job well-done.
