El Paso Airman Killed in Fire

An apartment fire claimed the life of an El Paso airman stationed in Germany. Robert Hernandez died Sunday near Ramstein Air Base when a fire broke out in the kitchen of his off base apartment. The blaze quickly spread to the rest of the residence and Hernandez was unable to escape. The 26 year-old was in Germany serving as part of the 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
