Wildfire Near Ruidoso Burns 26,000 Acres

RUIDOSO, NM — As of Sunday morning, officials confirm the fire has now burned 26,000 acres and remains 0% contained.

Officials said the winds caused the fire to spread overnight. The fire continues to spread from west to east headed toward Capitan which has not been evacuated at this point. No estimated total on structures burned due to crews not being able to asses damage.

Governor Susana Martinez will tour the area Sunday afternoon and will meet with residents at 4:30 this afternoon at Ruidoso High School.
