UTEP sophomore Elkana Rotich has been named Conference USA Male Athlete of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
Rotich posted the nation’s second best time of 3:44.41 in the 1,500m run at the UTEP Springtime meet.
On Saturday, Rotich had two first place finishes in the 800-meter and the 1,500m races. The Eldoret, Kenya native now holds the C-USA record for the men’s 1,500m and received recognition for his 1:53.68 time in the 800-meter race.
The miners will be heading to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Invitational, where Elkana Rotich will be looking to top his performance.
