UTEP Students Claim Abuse from Juarez Police

JUAREZ - Two University of Texas at El Paso students are claiming Juarez police officers beat them up.

20-year-olds Paloma Padilla and Jesús Enrique Hilario, both engineering students at UTEP, were driving in a car with Hilario's father, when they ran out of gas Tuesday.

Hilario's father walked to get gasoline, when the 20-year-olds say Juarez police approached them and became aggressive.

"They abused us, their position. They hurt me, they hurt Enrique, and we never denied identifying ourselves," said Padilla.

"They never identified themselves, they never wanted us to see their faces. They harrassed us, they sexually harassed me. I want something done. I don't want it to end this way," she said.

No reaction from Juarez police was available.
