The UTEP Cheerleaders and Paydirt Pete have claimed the 2011 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Coed Division championship.
The squad advanced out of the preliminaries into the finals by securing a strong fourth out of the 20 teams. In the finals, the team delivered a solid routine on the way to taking the national title in what is the largest division in the completion.
Other teams in the finals included fellow Conference USA member Marshall, Michigan, Georgia Southern, Oral Roberts, Weatherford, Florida International, Georgia State, Central Oklahoma, James Madison and Utah Valley.
The national-champion Miners are slated to arrive in El Paso at 7:20 p.m. MDT Sunday evening.
