Trainer Breen Running Two Horses in Sunland Derby

Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 10:29pm

The Sunland Derby is the fifth richest Kentucky Derby qualifier in the country and for the eleven horses running in this years race, they are all aiming for the Blue Grass State.

Trainer Kelly Breen is increasing his odds by running two of his top three year olds. Nacho Saint, at 7-2, and Ruler On Ice, at 8-1, both bring different abilities and that has Breen feeling good.

"The favorite is outside of us so we get to control a little bit of what we want to do," said Breen. "Ruler On Ice, he's our closer. So we're trying to give them the 1-2 punch. One from the front, one from the back."

The Derby runs Sunday at Sunland Park Racetrack.

Thank you, LC Crimestoppers, for offering the reward! I was the reporter in Los Alamos when Randle DeWees and Nick's father, Ron Smith, came there, desperate for information. Everyone I interviewed said Edyth would NEVER have voluntarily left her 4-year-old son Andrew with the man she was going to divorce. She didn't leave willingly! And Nick was eager to see his dad in California. He already had his ticket. But he was never was seen alive. 20 years!
